- Soil health diagnostic protocol and soil health management under intensively cultivated districts
- Characterization and district level mapping of available primary, secondary and micronutrients
- Modification/standardization of extractants and soil testing methods for precise estimation of nutrient elements under different soil conditions
- Development of Targeted Yield Equations for major crops grown in new and old alluvial zones
- Arsenic in food chain and its probable mitigation options
- Macro and micronutrients managementstrategies for their efficient use
- Strategies for management of problem soils
- Management strategies for sewage/sludge fed soil for productive use
- C-sequestration potential of predominant cropping system
- Protocol for management of organic wastes, preparation of rural compost, phosphocompost and vermicompost
- Exploration of potential N-fixing, P solubilizing and K-mobilizing microbesfor production of biofertilizers and Arsenic volatilizing/ reducing/ oxidizing strains for it’s remediation

Future Planning of the Department:
- Introduction of different training coursesrelated to soil and nutrient management, soil and water testing, production of biofertilizers and organic manures for farmers and other stakeholders
- Development of a state of the earth laboratory enabling the department to extend soil testing services to the large sections of the society including the farmers
- Development of instrumental facilities on clay mineral identification for practical as well as research purpose for post-graduate students
