Scientific Deliverables

  • Identified the promising genotype(s) in respect of the nutritional, phytonutritional and antioxidative quality of a variety of vegetables e.g., taro Colocasia, elephant foot yam, chilli pepper, eggplant, pointed gourd, tomato, cherry tomato, cultivated potato, leafy vegetables and fruits including the underutilized ones from which improved lines and diet can be obtained.
  • Identification of the best performing olitorius jute varieties for consumption as a   leafy vegetable, on the basis of the phytonutritional and antioxidative properties.
  • Identified iron and manganese as possible amendments to add values in potato.
  • Identified the promising ones amongst organically grown non-basmati aromatic landraces of the eastern India on the basis of the nutritional, phytonutritional as well as antioxidative properties.
  • Identified the best possible combinations amongst several rice- and pulse based food products on the basis of their nutritional, phytonutritional and antioxidative quality.
  • Worked out the technology for the bio-transformation of organic wastes into wealth.
  • Screened out Eisenia foetida as the best one among six earthworms species for the preparation of vermicompost.
  • Adjudication of phosphovermicompost to be the superior one to those of others in relation to the physico-chemical, chemical and biochemical attributes.
  • Pronouncement of vermicompost to be the worthiest in relation to soil fertility vis-à-vis qualitative (biochemical) and quantitative attributes of chilli (Capsicum annuum)
  • Boosting up of the chemical and biochemical properties of soil vis-à-vis qualitative (biochemical) and quantitative attributes of rice through the incorporation of FYM.
