Internet Access Zone (ARIS)

ARIS cell consists of a network of terminals connected through LAN and WiMax technology and a centralized networking and computational facility at Mohanpur. An 1-Gbps bandwidth connectivity, made available through National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) programme of MHRD, Govt. of India, is being used by the Faculties, Researchers, Students, Officers and Employees of this Viswavidyalaya. Computer terminals at Mohanpur and Kalyani (Directorate of Research) are connected through two separate centralized LAN facility, whereas these two campuses are connected through WiMax (Wireless) technology. Through this network, around 500 terminals at Mohanpur and around 150 terminals at Kalyani are connected and are sharing internet resources of the ARIS Cell. In addition to campuses, this facility has also been extended to the Research Scholar Hostel at Kalyani (Rishi Aurobinda Hall and Vivekananda Hall). Centralised computational facility at Mohanpur serves mainly the demand of the students, whereas terminals at various departments, sections and units facilitate internet access for Faculties, Researchers, Officers and Employees. At the central facility, records of students access are maintained. Through ARIS network, in addition to internet resources, huge number of popular national and international e-journals, made available to this Viswavidyalaya through Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) programme of ICAR.The facility can be accessed free of cost by the academic community of this viswavidyalaya.
