আজ বিধান চন্দ্র কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ফারমার্স একাডেমি এন্ড কনভেনশন সেন্টারে সর্বভারতীয় কৃষিপ্রনালী প্রকল্পের অন-ফার্ম শাখার (বাঁকুড়া) পক্ষ থেকে বাঁকুড়া জেলার (ছাতনা এবং বাঁকুড়া-১ ব্লক) ৪০ (চল্লিশ) জন কৃষক নিয়ে তিন দিন (১৩-১৫ মার্চ ২০২৪) ব্যাপি আবাসিক কৃষক প্রশিক্ষণের ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে। এই প্রশিক্ষণ শিবিরের মূল উদ্দেশ্য পরিবর্তনশীল আবহাওয়ায় সমন্বিত কৃষি প্রনালীর মাধ্যমে কিভাবে ক্ষুদ্র ও প্রান্তিক চাষীকে টিকিয়ে রাখা যায় এবং আয় বৃদ্ধি করা যায়। এই শিবিরের উদ্বোধন করেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক গৌতম সাহা, উপস্থিত ছিলেন কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ ও শিক্ষা অধিকর্তা অধ্যাপক পিন্টু বন্দোপাধ্যায়, মুখ্য বিজ্ঞানী অধ্যাপক স্বপন কুমার মুখোপাধ্যায়, বরিষ্ঠ বিজ্ঞানী অধ্যাপক মানবেন্দ্র রায় এবং বিজ্ঞানী অধ্যাপক সুশান্ত সাহা। তিনদিন ধরে চলা এই শিবিরে কৃষি, প্রানীপালন, মৎস্যচাষ এবং বাগীচা চাষ নিয়ে ৮ (আট) জন বিশিষ্ট বিজ্ঞানী আলোচনা করবেন এবং হাতে কলমে প্রশিক্ষণ দেবেন।

A two days HRD Training Programme on Emerging crop management strategies in weather induced stresses for the heads and SMSs of South Bengal Krishi Vigyan Kendras organised by the Directorate of Extension Education, BCKV has been started at FACC, BCKV has been inaugurated at 10.30 am today on 7th March 2024 The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. G. Saha, Hon'ble Vice-chancellor. Prof. P. Bandopadhyay, Director of Extension Education in his welcome address underpinned the relevance of the topic and its contents. Prof. A. B. Sharangi, Dean, F/Hort. in his speech emphasized on the significance recent development with technologies like AI and machine learning towards league for sustainability. Prof. J. Tarafder, Director of Research conversed on the holistic crop management strategies keeping in view the contemporary scenario. In his address,, Prof. L. Das, Dean, F/Ag. discussed about different types of stresses which might create havoc in crop production at current situation. Prof. S. K. Acharya, Dean, PG Studies gave emphasis on importance of gender mainstreaming, soil and water management in present context and also on importance of documentation for future planning. Prof. G. Saha, Vice Chancellor BCKV in his Presidential address stressed upon three subjects viz. weather forecasting prediction, contingency planning and use of new technologies in the KVK system. At the end the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. A. Banerjee, Assistant Director of Extension Education. The inaugural programme was anchored by Dr. K. Barui, Senior Scientist and Head, Howrah KVK.

A two days Human Resource Development Program from December 19 to December 20, 2023 involving the subject matter specialists and heads of different Krishi Vigyan Kendras of South Bengal organized by the Directorate of Extension Education, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya is started at Farmers Academy & Convention Centre of the university at Kalyani. The focus of the program is to discuss about the current issues and recommendations made from the Network Research Projects of ICAR being implemented at BCKV in different food crops so that this could be aligned in the On Farm Testing proposals of the KVKs. The program has been presided over by Prof. Goutam Saha, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, BCKV and the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour was Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata and Prof. Jayanta Tarafder, Director of Research, BCKV, respectively. The learned speakers officiating different network projects involving food crops in BCKV were also present in the inaugural program. At first the dignitaries present in the program are felicitated with flower bouquet and memento. Prof. Pintoo Bandyopadhyay, Director of Extension Education, BCKV in his welcome address briefly discussed about the relevance and importance of this program at present context. In his speech, Prof. Tarafder mainly briefed about the recommendations including crop varietal development, production and protection technologies coming out from different AICRP programs under BCKV specifically on horticultural crops towards nutritional security in addition to food security. Dr. Dey acknowledged his thanks to BCKV for organizing such program. He emphasized on designing such OFTs which should have relevance to the particular KVKs, according to their agro-climatic condition and presence of subject matter specialists. He also requested to make a note to each KVK regarding suitable technologies applicable to their KVKs for future course of action. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor requested the house to think about the uses of modern technologies like artificial intelligence, sensor based drones for rapid plant stress detection as well as importance of meteorological observatories in KVKs. At the end, the vote of thanks was proposed by the Dr. Kalyan Jana, Assistant Director, Directorate of Extension Education, BCKV.
