Achievements of the Department

 

Faculty members have achieved the following recognition :–

    • Delivered invited talks on AI in Agricultural Mechanization (Jan 2026), C-DAC, Kolkata, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India
    • Rendered Professional Expert Service at MHRD, Govt. of India; Public Service Commission, Govt. of India, IIT Kharagpur and other institutes of ICAR and CSIR.
    • Acting as Chairman of a Local Advisory Committee of DST Sponsored project at CSIR-CMERI (2025-2027).
    • Acting as Task Force Member, Agricultural and Food Processing, Eastern Region, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
    • Working as resource Persons at UGC, PSC, ICAR, NTA and MHRD.
    • Proving expert service at academic Boards, SAUs and Central Institutes and different journal publishing bodies.

The department has developed few appropriate implements and machineries for small scale farm holdings of marginal farmers.

Based on masters and doctoral research work, design patents have been filed and one design registration has been granted in 2025.

A. Numerical modelling and simulation using :-

1. Discrete element modelling (DEM) of tillage dynamics

B. Precision agriculture (AI, ML and IoT controlled) on the following aspects :–

1. Unmanned ground vehicle for weed detection

2. Machine for herbicide and pesticide application

3. Development of control system for real time data acquisition for farm vehicles.

C. Renewable energy generation :-

1. Bio-char as a source of energy and fertiliser

2. Solar energy based farm machines
